Dharma Jumpsuits - A TV Icon
The Dharma jumpsuit has been made popular by the hit TV series LOST. LOST follows the adventures of a group of
plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island. First airing on September 22, 2004 lost has since gained a
huge cult following.
The Dharma jumpsuit is the uniform of the members of the Dharma initiative. The Dharma Initiative is a project
ostensibly started in 1970 and created by two doctorial candidates from the University of Michigan. The Dharma
initiative and its origins are first explored in the episode called "Orientation".
The Dharma jumpsuit has been featured extensively throughout the duration of the show. Typically the Dharma
jumpsuit is a full one piece khaki long sleeved jumpsuit with an elastic waistband. Typically the Dharma
Initiatives logo patch is featured above the left breast pocket and the workers name is embroidered in black
on the pocket.
